Tower Defense

Free co-op tower defense on two phones

BIGBOARD.GAMES's tower defense on two phones is free in the browser and co-op: lay the two phones edge to edge and one road runs across both screens to a lantern you defend together, each of you building towers on a ground of your own.

How to start

  1. Open bigboard.games on every device and tap Start a table on one of them.
  2. The others join by themselves on the same Wi-Fi; elsewhere, scan the QR code or type the four-letter code.
  3. Lay the devices edge to edge, screens up, as the drawing shows, and pick the game.

One road, two screens

Put the two phones flat on the table, edges touching, one of you at each end. The road starts at a red gatehouse on the table's edge, runs out along one side of both screens, loops on the far one and comes back along the other side to the lantern on the screen it started from. So the seam carries the road twice, each time through a stone tunnel under the bezel, and while a bug is in a tunnel no tower can see it or shoot it.

Two tablets play the same way, and so does a phone with a tablet. With a phone at the table every cell is 12.5 mm across, room for a fingertip; two tablets play 15 mm cells. Sharing one phone instead? 2 player tower defense puts you both on one screen.

A ground each, and the gold split fairly

Each of you builds on a ground grown from your own seat, and the two are cut so each covers an equal share of the road, even when one of them is a small corner. Tap an empty cell on yours and a ring opens upright for you: a Bolt for 40 gold, a Frost for 50, a Mortar for 60 and your one Hero for 120. A tap always builds for the ground's owner, with their gold, so nobody has to ask who is building.

You start with 100 gold each on Medium. A kill's gold is split evenly between you, and a cleared wave pays you both the same, so the player whose screen the road reaches first doesn't take it all. The Mortar is the tower that crosses the seam: it lobs shells over the bezel at bugs on either phone, while a Bolt and a Frost guard only their own screen.

Waves, the boss and a partner far away

A match is 15 waves, or 30 for a long one. On Medium, Runners come every wave, slow Brutes from wave 3, flying Swarms from wave 4 and armoured Shields from wave 5, and on the last of 15 comes the boss, which breaks the lantern at once if it gets there. Want a third defender? 3 player tower defense adds a screen and a ground.

The phones talk to each other directly, and each runs every bug itself, so nothing is handed over at the seam; one Wi-Fi is smoothest. A partner somewhere else can still play: they join with the table's link and see the whole field on their own screen, as How it works shows. More 2 player games on different phones play across two screens the same way.

2 players: questions and answers

Can a phone and a tablet play together?

Yes, iPhone and Android too; with a phone at the table every cell is 12.5 mm, on two tablets 15 mm.

Does each of us have our own gold?

Yes, 100 each to start on Medium, and every kill's gold is split evenly between you.

Can a tower shoot onto the other phone?

Yes, a Mortar lobs its shells over the bezel onto either screen; a Bolt and a Frost cover only their own.

What happens if one phone drops out?

The match waits for it; if it doesn't come back in time, the match ends as a loss you share.
