1. Acceptance of these terms
By using BIGBOARD.GAMES, the website and the games at bigboard.games (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the Service. BIGBOARD.GAMES ("we", "our", or "us") is operated by its founder as an independent business. Our Privacy Policy explains what we record and why.
We may update these terms as the Service changes. The current version always sits on this page with its date. For a significant change we'll tell account holders, by email or in the app, at least 14 days before it applies. If you keep using the Service after that, the new terms apply; if you don't accept them, stop using it and delete your account.
2. The service
BIGBOARD.GAMES is a set of browser games for 2–4 phones, tablets or computers laid side by side as one board. The Service includes:
- Games for a table of devices, and some that play on a single device, with nothing to install
- Tables you join by a code, a QR code, a link or the list of nearby tables
- An optional account that keeps your profile on every device
- The ideas board, where signed-in players suggest and vote for games
It's free. If we ever add something paid, it will be clearly marked, and you'll agree to its terms before you pay anything. We keep changing the Service: we add, change and remove games and features, and a game shown as coming soon may change or never come out. We may pause or end the Service; before ending it for good, we'll give notice in the app, and by email to account holders, where we reasonably can. You need a recent browser and an internet connection; playing over mobile data uses your data allowance.
3. Eligibility
Accounts are for people 16 and over. If you're under 16, you may play without an account with the permission of a parent or guardian.
4. Your account
- Accounts are optional: you sign in with Google or with a link sent to your email. There are no passwords.
- Anyone who can read your email can sign in with a link, so keep your email account secure. Every sign-in email names the device that asked for it; don't open a link you didn't ask for.
- One account per person, with an email address that's yours. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
- Signing in with Google is also subject to Google's terms.
- You can delete your account at any time: Profile › Delete account.
5. Play data
We record basic play data for every player, with or without an account: which games you play, at which table, on which devices, your results and scores, the times, and an approximate location (city level at most, from network data; we don't keep IP addresses in our records). There's no setting to turn this off. We use it to run the Service, to understand how it's used and to build leaderboards. The Privacy Policy has the details, your right to object, and how to delete your data.
6. Play safely
- Put the devices on a stable, flat surface, away from drinks and edges. Some games ask you to tilt or move a device: hold it firmly. You're responsible for your devices and surroundings.
- Some games have fast motion and bright, changing colors. If you or a player has photosensitive epilepsy, ask a doctor before playing, and stop if anyone feels unwell.
7. Acceptable use
When using BIGBOARD.GAMES, you agree not to:
- Use player names, ideas, feedback or messages that are offensive, hateful, harassing, sexual, violent or threatening, that pretend to be someone else, that reveal someone's private information, or that break the law or anyone's rights
- Post ads, spam or links in ideas or feedback, vote with more than one account, or use bots or scripts to play, sign in, vote or post
- Knock on or join tables to bother people, or get into a table you weren't let into
- Overload, disrupt, probe or attack the Service, get around its limits or security, or try to reach data that isn't yours
- Copy, scrape, resell or reverse engineer the Service or its games, except where the law allows it
- Use the Service for anything illegal
We may remove content, reset a player name, decline ideas, limit features, or suspend or close accounts that break these rules (§12).
8. What you send us
- Your player name, game ideas, votes, feedback and emails to us remain yours.
- You give us a worldwide, free, non-exclusive, perpetual and irrevocable license to use, copy, edit, translate, publish, combine and build on your ideas and feedback, in any form, including making and selling games based on them, and to let others do so for us. We owe you no payment or credit for them. To the extent the law allows, you waive any moral rights that would stop us from doing so.
- You also let us show your player name to other players while you play, and keep it in our records as the Privacy Policy describes.
- Ideas and feedback aren't confidential. We may already be working on something similar, and making a game like your idea doesn't mean we took it from you.
- Send only what you have the right to share. We decide what appears on the ideas board: we may approve, decline, merge or remove any idea.
9. Intellectual property
The games, their art, sound and code, the design, and the BIGBOARD.GAMES name and logo belong to us or the people who license them to us. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service as we offer it, under these terms, for non-commercial play: at home, with friends, in a classroom, or at a gathering where nobody pays to play. For any other use, such as at a venue or a paid event, write to us first.
Signing in with Google, and sites we link to (such as AfterPack, which protects our app's code), are run by others under their own terms. We're not responsible for them.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is free and provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We work to keep it running well, but we don't promise that it will always be available, be free of errors, work on every device, browser or network, keep every match connected, or keep your scores and records. Coming-soon games may never come out. This doesn't affect any rights you have by law that can't be waived.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, lost data or profits, or damage to your devices from how they are placed or handled during play. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim (for a free service, usually nothing) and 50 US dollars. We are not liable for downtime, degradation or data loss caused by the infrastructure providers the Service runs on, Cloudflare in particular, for maintenance announced in advance, or for your own devices, network or environment.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for harm we cause on purpose or through gross negligence, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account in Profile › Delete account. We may suspend or close your account, or block your access, if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect players or the Service. Unless it's serious or repeated abuse, we'll try to tell you first, by email if you have an account. On termination, the sections on what you send us, disclaimers, limitation of liability and disputes still apply.
13. Disputes
If something goes wrong, raise it with us first: email hello@bigboard.games a written description of the problem, and both sides will try in good faith to resolve it within 30 days before taking any further step. This does not affect the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence, which apply whatever these terms say.
14. General
- These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
- If part of these terms is found invalid, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a right straight away, we haven't given it up.
- We may transfer these terms to whoever takes over the Service, and we'll tell you if we do; your rights under them stay the same. You may not transfer yours.
- If a translation of these terms differs from the English version, the English version applies.
15. Contact
If you have any questions about these terms, write to hello@bigboard.games.
