How to start
- Open bigboard.games on one phone or tablet and tap Start a table.
- Pick the game; the players at this device are set before the match.
- Lay the device flat between you and play.
The snake you know
Classic is the snake game everyone has played: one snake on one screen, pellets to eat, and every pellet makes you two cells longer. Run into a wall or into your own body and the game is over. There are no rivals and no closing border, so it lasts as long as you do.
On a phone or tablet, swipe anywhere on the screen in the direction you want to go. A turn fires after a few millimetres on the glass, and one stroke can turn twice. On a computer, use the arrow keys. Two people on one phone? Snake for two on one screen gives each a joystick.
Speed, size and walls
Pick a speed before you start: Fast covers 12 cells a second, Normal 9 and Relaxed 6. Pick a field size too. A small field has big cells, 12 millimetres a side; a large one has cells of 7 millimetres, so the same screen holds far more of them and the snake has more room to grow.
Walls can be solid or wrap around. With wrap, a snake that leaves one edge comes back in on the other, and only your own body can stop you. Your snake's head is your face: your critter, or your photo when you're signed in.
Your best, and friends later
When the game ends, the card shows how many pellets you ate and your best so far, and says so when you've beaten it. The best length is kept on this device, so it is waiting next time you open the game. Single player whack a mole keeps your best the same way.
When friends turn up, there is no need to start over somewhere else. Start a table, let them join on their own phones, and the same game becomes a multiplayer snake game across all your screens; bots can fill in for anyone who can't come.
