How to start

  1. Open bigboard.games on every device and tap Start a table on one of them.
  2. The others join by themselves on the same Wi-Fi; elsewhere, scan the QR code or type the four-letter code.
  3. Lay the devices edge to edge, screens up, as the drawing shows, and pick the game.

Four in a ring, head to head

Lay four phones or tablets in a ring, one player at each. Head to head, the bar is split four ways, every bop goes to the player in the lead as in 3 player whack a mole, and players drop out one by one until a single one is left. With this many hands the pace picks up quickly; the extra moles arrive at 30, 60 and 100 seconds.

There can be more people than devices. Up to four players can share one device, each in a zone at their own edge, so a big table can hold twelve players, bots included.

Cooperative: waves, a rush and big moles

Pick Cooperative and the four screens become one field. Moles come in waves of 20 seconds with a short breather between them, and every fourth wave ends in a six-second rush. Golden and peeking moles turn up from the second wave, bombs from the third and armoured moles from the fourth.

Big moles are the reason to play with four. One pops up in a pocket that sits across the seam between two screens, and one hit bops it, but it scores double when the players on both sides hit it within 120 milliseconds of each other. Calling it out across the table is half the fun, which puts it among the party games on phones.

Five lives for the whole table

Every mole that escapes costs the table one of its five lives, and so does bopping a bomb. A golden mole gives a life back. The run ends when the last life goes, and a table that reaches the fifth wave has won; the end card shows the score and the table's best.

If a phone drops out, its part of the field is dropped and the rest play on. A device that joins without a player, as just a screen, can watch the field with everyone else.
