What is Landlords?
Landlords is a game in the works for BIGBOARD.GAMES, where phones and tablets laid edge to edge become one big board, like the games you can play today. Players asked for it on our ideas board, so it's on the way.
It isn't playable yet, and details may change while we build and test it. Tap Get notified on its card and we'll send one email when it's out.
How it plays
It takes after The Landlord's Game, the board game Lizzie Magie patented in 1904, the forerunner of the property trading games played today: go round the board, buy property, build on it and collect rent from whoever lands there.
Players take turns, so it plays at a board game's pace, like checkers online. Like every game here, it will run in the browser, with nothing to install and no sign-up.
What you need
BIGBOARD.GAMES games run on phones and tablets, iPhone and Android mixed. The plan is one board split across the devices at the table, or the whole board on one device you hand round between turns, the way the games on one phone play.
A table will form the way it does for every game here, as How it works shows: open bigboard.games on each device. On the same Wi-Fi they find each other by themselves; otherwise scan the QR code or type the table's code.
Why it's fun at a table
A property trading game is about the people round the table as much as the board: the deals, the groans when someone lands on your street, the comeback nobody saw coming.
