Free 2v2 paddle tennis: doubles on phones and tablets

BIGBOARD.GAMES's 2v2 paddle tennis is free in the browser and played in the same room: two teams on four phones or tablets, or doubles with two or more players to a device on two, every teammate with a line and a paddle, scoring together to 5, 7 or 11 points.

How to start

  1. Open bigboard.games on every device and tap Start a table on one of them.
  2. The others join by themselves on the same Wi-Fi; elsewhere, scan the QR code or type the four-letter code.
  3. Lay the devices edge to edge, screens up, as the drawing shows, and pick the game.

Two sides, one score

A team match of paddle tennis keeps one score per side: a ball into any of your team's lines is a point to the other team, and the first side to the target wins. Pick it in the lobby: 5 for Short, 7 for Standard, 11 for Long.

Teams split by device. On four devices in a line, each half of the line is a side; in a 2 × 2 square, the left column plays the right. On two tablets, everyone on one tablet is a team: two each makes doubles, and up to four a side fit.

Covering for each other

Nobody plays out in front: every teammate has a goal line of their own on the edge where they sit, every line the same length, and a paddle that slides along it. A ball your partner misses still counts against you both, so watch their side as well as yours.

Power-ups work for the team too. A Shield wall guards the taker's own line once, a Long paddle grows only theirs, but a Short paddle shrinks every opponent's paddle at once, both of the other side. For every player on their own instead, 4 player paddle tennis plays free-for-all with lives.

A bot for the fourth seat

Only three of you? Add a bot as you arrange the table: it takes a seat on the court's edge and plays for the side whose device it sits on. Its device runs it, and the ball comes to its line like to anyone's.

A team match doesn't shrink when someone leaves: if a device drops out and doesn't come back, the match ends rather than leaving a side short. Air hockey 2v2 is the other fast team game here, the puck in place of the ball.
